All the same general editing services apply to fiction and nonfiction; however, editing fiction and nonfiction manuscripts strives to assist not only with grammar and style, but all the major aspects of writing a novel-length work.

Accordingly, I’d like to emphasize the importance of editing a manuscript prior to submitting it to agents and publishers. I work with many new authors who wish to have guidance with the submission process or to determine if their work is publishable. Often, authors will have planned to self-publish and need their manuscript to be in top-shape before it goes to print. And for agented authors who’ve been publishing, I can ensure your manuscript is clean and free of errors before sending it out.

As a freelance editor, my work with authors is integral to the publishing process. More and more, publishing houses and presses want to see edited manuscripts as their staff no longer supports extensive in-house editing.

Because I am not affiliated with any agent or publisher, I do not guarantee that you will secure representation, but in providing you with an honest assessment of your manuscript, editorial services that will increase your odds of getting published, and resources to put you in the right direction, my assistance can be invaluable.

Unless I encounter a manuscript that I believe will not benefit from editing, I accept most projects in varying genres both literary and commercial, including poetry collections, children’s books, screenplays, essays, short fiction, interviews, and journal articles.
